A slow moving cold front will bring heavy rain to the area tonight. Rivers, which are already running high are expected to rise again through the end of the week.
A FLOOD WATCH has been issued for Vilas, Oneida, Forest, Florence, Gogebic and Iron counties tonight through Monday. Ongoing FLOOD WARNINGS are still in place for low lying areas in Adams, Portage, Marathon, Shawano and Wood counties. The new rainfall will elevate the flood concerns there.
A FLOOD WATCH means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. Please monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
Showers and a few isolated thundershowers are expected across far northern Wisconsin this afternoon. Heavier rain showers will develop after sunset. Otherwise, mostly cloudy and warm with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely tonight. Severe weather is not. The slow moving cold front, currently to our north will begin to move south. This will be the focus for more showers and thunderstorms tomorrow. Wave after wave of showers and thunderstorms will ride along this front tonight and tomorrow. This will lead to heavy rainfall in spots with lows in the low 40s.
The cold front is expected to make it to Highway 29 tomorrow afternoon. As long as this front is in the area, showers and thunderstorms are expected. heavy rain is possible through the day tomorrow. This front will also divide the warm air from the cold. Behind the front, across far northern Wisconsin high temperatures will get stuck in the upper 40s to low 50s. To the south of the front (south of Highway 29) low 70s are possible.
Gradual clearing is expected Tuesday with a gusty north breeze and high temperatures for all of us in the low to middle 50s.
