Rhinelander -
The Rhinelander Ice Association is hoping to get more kids in the door and onto the ice. The organization held a "learn to play" event for kids.

On top of that, the RIA has waived ice fees for the first two years of new players and they're hoping that can bring more kids into the sport; which helps benefit everyone.

"As the kids grow, it gets to be more of a time commitment, more travel, you start to see more filter out, people move away," said coach Jed Peters. "So, the bigger the group we can get into it and get excited at this young age, the much better we are and more stable we are as an organization long-term."

The youth season is set to begin soon and so is the high school season.

On November 23, the Hodags will begin their Great Northern Conference title defense at home against Ashland.
