Minocqua - The 57th annual Beef-A=Rama took place Saturday in downtown Minocqua. The event allows for local businesses to get some extra business and to show off their roasting skills.

"Beef A Rama is basically our Northwoods Mardi Gras," said executive director of Let's Minocqua, Krystal Westfahl.

Westfahl continued, "we celebrate all things beef and of course we are here to celebrate the visitors and the locals alike to say thanks for a great summer. It's been a tradition for 56 years, 57 this year and we're super excited to be back for one more year," said Westfahl.

Westfahl says that the hallmark Minocqua event had humble beginnings celebrating a different protein, fish. "Well it actually started out as Fish- A-Rama, the first inception of this event, and quickly switched over to beef," said Westfahl. She continued, "I think it was just a lot easier for our businesses to participate by able to cook a roast."

With last year interrupted by the pandemic, getting businesses to participate was tough for event organizers. "It's been a struggle obviously we have a worker shortage in town so it's been hard for many of our businesses to be able to participate but you know they're super resilient and they were able to come through last minute and help us pull of a really great event," said Westfahl.
