Wausau - The annual Smiley Invitational took place at Wausau East High School this year. Over 60 teams from all over Wisconsin competed in various races throughout the day.

In the Division two and three girls varsity race, Northland Pines' Nora Gremban won the race with a time of 18:38. Three Lakes also had a strong showing in the race. Sophia Nafziger and Kallie Volk finished in the top ten.

For the boys in division two and three, Sam Gremban finished in sixth place, with a final time of 17:07.

Moving to division one, the girls varsity race was won by Merrill's Elizabeth Schmidt. The Blue Jay finished with a time of 18:58.

Finally, for the division one boys, it was a very close race between Medford's Joe Sullivan and Sun Prairie's Mateo Alvarado Ven. Both runners would finish with a time of 16:02:08, but Sullivan would just barely edge out Alvarado Ven for the win. Stevens Point's Zach Scharbarth would finish in third place. The SPASH Panthers would win the invitational as a team though, scoring only 55 points.
