For years, an organization out of Portage County has developed a community of creativity. They accomplish this, in part, with events and contests around the county.

This year, CREATE Portage County is hosting its third Trash Canvas event. The competition is taking place in downtown Stevens Point. Trash Canvas invites local artists to paint trash bins in the downtown area. Afterwards, the community is invited to vote on the best artwork. Organizers say that voters have more options to choose from this year as more canvases have been added to the event.

"Trash Canvas goes through a community poll. We like to give the community a chance to weigh in on what designs are the best in the community," said Christopher Klesmith, Project Activator at CREATE Portage County.

The winning artist will receive a $250 prize. Polls are open here until the end of Saturday.
