Eagle River - Fourth of July weekend in the Northwoods is all about boats!

Hundreds of boats hit the many lakes that the Northwoods has to offer. Most boats are usually docked so that friends and family can party together but in Eagle River, a select group was racing!

The Carpenter Lake Sunfish Regatta had its 14th race in its history. Racers came from all over the United States to partakes.

Boats raced for three hours in the beating sun! They were making up for lost time since they weren't able to race last year due to the global pandemic.

But with the ideal weather and strong winds, it was a great day to be on the lake.

"It was Great," said sailer, Shapor Guzder. "I would say that everybody should come. All the sunfish sailors should come here. Great fun, great people, great hospitality, and a great location."

Guzder, a Chicago resident who is in his eighties, finished in second place overall.

The regatta takes place on the Saturday of fourth of July weekend every year.
