Eagle River - As the COVID-19 situation in Wisconsin continues to improve, more businesses are returning to full strength. The Northwoods Children's Museum, in Eagle River, fully reopened last Wednesday, June 9th, welcoming visitors to explore and play at their hands-on exhibits.

"Both my kids just love it here," says Kelly Royten. "It's always fun. We're from Minnesota but every year we come up here and they always wanna come here, at least once!"

Every third Tuesday of the month the Northwoods Children's Museum hosts Friendly Tuesdays, where kids get in free.

"We're very happy to have so many children and families in here again," says Executive Director Aubrey Dalbec.

The event is sponsored by Friendly Village, one of the many community supports that help keep the museum bustling.

"We believe in our mission so much," says Dalbec. "To facilitate hands-on learning and play for kids and families in the Northwoods."

"It's like - a nice sized museum," says Royten. "We actually live near the St. Paul Children's Museum but we actually prefer this one because it's so much smaller and there's just a lot of hands-on activities for the kids. The mining, the grocery store and the log cabin - like with the little table with the food and then the fishing and my son likes the snowmobile!"

The museum is now fully open to the community for the first time since March 2020. Dalbec says one COVID adaptation still in play is "MyPod Mondays."

"On MyPod Mondays we have 3 slots of time set aside for those who might wanna come in and have a private playtime experience in the museum," says Dalbec.

MyPod Mondays cost nothing extra. It's still $8.50 per person admission cost, with no minimum or maximum number of people per pod.

The museum is regularly open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 AM to 5 PM, closing at 3 PM on Saturdays.
