PARK FALLS - The City of Park Falls petitioned Price County Court to consider placing Park Fall Development, LLC, and associated mill entities, into Chapter 128 Receivership.

According to a press release from the mayor's office, the mill laid off a numerous amount of their workforce in March of 2021. The company stated they would close operations for two weeks, however a viable restart date has not been set, with only more layoffs underway.

In June of last year the city loaned the mill $1 million to to fix infrastructure issues to the facility. The city anticipates full repayment of the loan.

"My primary concern at this time is ensuring that the workers get paid, environmental protection of the facility and taxpayer indemnification of all liabilities," Mayor Michael Bablick said. "This process will hopefully ensure all of that. There is a real interest in the site from multiple entities which should materialize in the near future.

The receivership has been filed to the Price County Court, a hearing date has not been set at this time.
