Minocqua - Minocqua Winter Park is adding a new outdoor activity for visitors to try next spring.

Minocqua Winter Park was recently granted permission to build on Minocqua Town Property to begin mountain bike trail construction to commence this fall and be completed by next spring.

Chalet Coordinator, Mark Stuber is excited for Minocqua Winter Park to be used year round with the addition of the bike trails.

"Minocqua Winter Park has been talking about doing mountain bike trails for quite some time now," said Stuber. "Until very recently we did not have a lot of our own property to put mountain bike trails on however we just got a large donation of land which includes Squirrel Hill so now we have a space that we can actually develop some trails."

The three and a half to four miles of bike trails will be on some Minocqua Town Property and the rest on the new donation of land from the top of Squirrel Hill down to the exterior parking lot.

In addition they will also be building restrooms out by the trails.

"IMBA which is the International Mountain Bicycling Association, they're going to come out and do a trail study on our whole property to look at building even more trails so this section of trails is really just a teaser for bigger things to come," said Stuber.

Minocqua Winter Park looks to continue expanding its activities to a year round operation.
