Rhinelander - While many people got their first look inside the Hodag Dome on Election Day, the public will officially be able to use the space on February 1.

Janet Jamison, Hodag Dome Manager is excited for the community to finally be able to use the dome to its full potential.

"There are some community Ed classes scheduled already, there's a walking fitness class, there's a Pilates and Bosu ball class and there's an upcoming tai chi class," said Jamison.

"Under the community tab on that website there is a page for the Hodag Dome," said Jamison. If you click on that there's lots of instructions you can go through to sign up and then you will be able to purchase a facility ID card to come in."

At the Dome people can enjoy the community walking hours reserve a tennis or pickleball court a batting cage and coming soon, a golf simulator with both morning and evening hours.

"The Dome is open from 6am to noon and 6pm to 9pm for our community most days," said Jamison.

The annual membership cost for people that live within the School District of Rhinelander boundaries is 15 dollars a year. For everyone else, it's 40 dollars a year.

"We ask that people bring in their driver's license with them that's entrance requirement to get into the dome so well scan your driver's license when you come in and that will get checked against national sex offender database," said Jamison.

To keep people safe the Dome is following the same policies as the rest of the school district of Rhinelander including mandatory mask wearing the entire time, because it's an indoor facility.

"It's amazing for our own community members to be able to come in and enjoy the space but it's also a big draw for events from outside of Rhinelander where people will come and use the Hodag Dome but they also eat in our restaurants and stay in our hotels," said Jamison.

People are advised to check the school district website before arriving at the Dome as availability and times are subject to change.
