Mosinee - Mosinee football is just happy they were able to have a season this year.

"A lot of schools down South didn't even have an opportunity to play their football season," Cyle Kowalski, senior wide receiver.

They've been able to play all eight games and they're making the most of it.

Three of their players have been nominated for state awards.

Senior quarterback Michal Dul is nominated for the Dave Krieg award, which is given to the state's best senior quarterback.

"I'm blessed and honored to receive the nomination," Dul said. "I worked pretty hard in the offseason to get to where I am right now and I'm glad the work is paying off."

Two wide receivers are also being recognized. Cyle Kowalski and Drayton Lehman are nominated for the Al Toon Award. This award is gifted to the top senior wide receiver or tight end in the state.

"We're just super happy that we are both two of the top five in the state," said Kowalski. "It's pretty awesome."

But they really aren't concerned with winning the award.

"We talk a little trash but it's all love there," said Lehman. "We're good buddies. We don't really care who gets it."

For these three seniors, they were just happy to play this season, the accolades are a bonus.

They also recognize that none of this would have been possible without the entire team.

"It's pretty cool but it can't just happen because of us," Lehman said. "Michal's throwing the ball well, the lines blocking for him, the wideouts are blocking for each other and we have the running backs blocking too."

These guys have grown up with one another, and to potentially win their final game is something they'll never forget.

"It's been a blast," said Dul. "Having all those guys that you grow up with, playing your last season, it's an incredible feeling. It's hard to explain, just amazing."
