WAUSAU - Monday morning, 7th Congressional District candidate Tricia Zunker held a press conference at Day's Bowl-A-Dome in Wausau.
Zunker said she chose Day's Bowl-A-Dome to host her press conference for a special reason.
"We need to stand with our small business owners," said Zunker. "If we don't have our health we don't have anything, places like this are where everybody goes. We need to be healthy and we need to come out and support small business, it's all related."
During the press conference, Zunker spoke about issues relating to healthcare and small businesses.
She said her plan will not only address large healthcare corporations; it will help everyone.
"It's going to help everyday Wisconsinites," said Zunker. "They're going to have more money in their pockets. That's going out into our economy supporting small businesses and our farmers."
Substitute teacher Jeannie Russell spoke about her hardships relating to the healthcare of her son, who has Type 1 diabetes.
She said she supports Zunker's cause because it relates to the struggle she endured.
"Knowing that there is someone like her, who stands behind what she says is golden these days," said Russell.
The Democratic Primary Election for the 7th Congressional house seat will be held on Feb. 18. The general election will be held on May 12.
