Burglars swipe entire ATM unit from Arbor Vitae bar and grill
ARBOR VITAE - Burglars didn't bother using a debit card or PIN to get money from an ATM in Arbor Vitae this week.

Instead, they swiped the whole machine.

It happened at Stingrays Bar and Grill sometime between 10 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

The Vilas County Sheriff's Office hopes someone saw something that could help them solve the case.

"The information that would be helpful is if someone has seen any type of suspicious vehicles in the area, any type of bigger vehicle, a truck," said Lt. Dale Soltow.

The burglars also took the money from a gaming machine. The owners believe the criminals took thousands of dollars in cash.

Investigators started their work Wednesday morning.

"It appeared that entry was made through a kitchen window, as there was the screen removed [and] a stool sitting in front of the window where someone could have crawled in," Soltow said. "[We're working on] fingerprinting, looking for any type of DNA, checking entry points, exit points, anything that could have been touched."

Call the Vilas County Sheriff's Office if you have any information.
