Lac du Flambeau hosts second annual job fair
LAC DU FLAMBEAU - People could walk into the Lake of the Torches Casino and Conference Center in Lac du Flambeau on Wednesday and potentially walk out with a job.

The LDF Business Development Corporation held its second community job fair from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Simpson Electric, Peter Christensen Dental Clinic, and the Country Market made up some of the booths.

At 23 openings, there were about half the job possibilities through the LDFBDC this year compared to last, but Business Development HR director Turquoise Santiesteban thinks that's a positive sign.

"It shows that we are definitely expanding and growing, but we are keeping the employees that we currently have and that they are loving where they work," Santiesteban said.

Interview candidates just needed a high school diploma to apply for openings. Jobs included full-time, part-time, and seasonal.

"I love having the one-on-one conversations with the applicants and the potential new hires and begin to meet them," Santiesteban said.

The event was open to everyone, including non-tribal members.

If you were unable to make it to the job fair, you can email Santiesteban at hr@ldfbdc.com.

After Monday night, those chances may have just gone up.  On a 6-2 vote, the city council approved allowing ATVs and UTVs on almost all city streets.  Riders cannot use or cross Lincoln Street or Stevens Street north of Dwight Street.
