Story By Newswatch 12 Team

IRON COUNTY -
CORRECTED:
The Iron County Sheriff's Department mistakenly said in a post that the woman driving the snowmobile died from the crash, which is incorrect.

She is currently in a hospital in Duluth on life support.

A 43-year-old woman from Hartland died Friday afternoon from a snowmobile crash in Iron County.

The Iron County Sheriff's Department posted that the woman failed to turn near Pine Lake and crashed head-on with a semi-truck.

The operator of the semi-truck was unharmed.

Deputies and an ambulance arrived at the scene and took the woman to the hospital. She later died at after being transported to a second medical center.

Police believe speed is a factor in the crash.

This makes this the tenth death in Wisconsin this winter season and the first in Iron County.
