Pro snowmobile racer Nick Van Strydonk to raffle race suit for The Honor Flight
EAGLE RIVER - Pro rider Nick Van Strydonk will wear a one-of-a-kind race suit at the upcoming 56th World Championship Snowmobile Derby.

"There will never be another suit that looks like that in public or racing," said friend Hetch Lund.

Instead of keeping it as a memento, Van Strydonk will raffle it off on race day to raise money for the Honor Flight Organization.

"So, that our veterans from Korea, WWI, WWII, and all of our veterans can go to D.C. and see the memorial wall that they deserve to see," Lund said.

Lund helped with the raffle ticket sales Sunday at the World Championship Vintage Snowmobile Derby.

"I like doing stuff for the veterans," said Lund.

Lund happens to be a veteran himself. He wants to support his fellow veterans who hope to go on the honor flight, even though he hasn't been on the flight himself.

"I am going to go hopefully some day. But right now [I want to] get the WWII or Korean veterans there because they are getting older. If I can get them on a flight before I go, then so be it," he said.

So, Lund spent the weekend encouraging people, including other veterans, to purchase tickets.

People can buy raffle tickets this week at Erv's Sales & Services in Tomahawk.

They can also buy tickets next weekend at the championship races.

Those taken to the hospital include two men, two women, and a teenage boy.

Highway 8 was completely closed between North Rifle Road and Highway 47 and emergency responders set up a detour.
