RHINELANDER - One Rhinelander swimmer took her talents to the national stage.
12-year-old Abi Winnicki competed in the Mid State All Star Championships in Indianapolis at the beginning of January.
Winnicki is the swimmer in red.
She was one of 13 Wisconsin swimmers in her age group.
The competition brings top swimmers aged 10U to 14U from Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota Ohio and Wisconsin.
This is her second time competing in Indiana.
Winnicki says her experience at the meet made her realize that even at a young age, dreams can come true.
"I think it really shows you that there is a lot to work for and that there is really fast people. You just have to work to get to where you want to be," Winnicki said.
Winnicki competed in five events. She placed 7th in the 100 individual medley, that's what you see in the video.
She was also the top Wisconsin finisher in both medleys. She is a member of the Rhinelander Swim Club.
