"With the weather that we're having today with the freezing rain and the black ice, sometimes it sneaks up on people," said Lincoln County Lieutenant Tim Fischer.
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office also saw the effects of snowy road conditions.
"We've had a few vehicles in the ditch between Irma and Tomahawk area. No damage. No injuries. Just typical slide ins with the icy road conditions," said Fischer.
Both departments agree drivers should slow down, give themselves enough time, and be aware of their surroundings.
"You're going to see a lot of snow removal equipment out on the highways right now with the plow trucks and graders and stuff like that. Make sure you give them the space they need," said Wrycha.
Sgt. Wyrcha also suggests people keep an emergency travel kit in their cars. He says if you do end up in a ditch stay in your car, keep warm, and call police.
