Vilas County snowmobile trails to open
Story By Newswatch 12 News Team

EAGLE RIVER - Snowmobilers in Vilas County can get ready to ride.

Most trails in Vilas County will be opening at 5:00 p.m. Friday.

Vilas County Recreation Administrator Dale Mayo says the exception is the Phelps Trail system.

Trails in Phelps are not ready yet, and will stay closed until further notice.

Riders need to be careful, as trails will be in early season condition.

You might run in to rough spots, and some segments of trails may be closed.

Mayo says not to cross any lake unless there is a clearly marked trail across it.

"I help people get down to the dining room for breakfast and serve it," Mader said.

Saturday, he broke that routine to honor a group he holds close to his heart.

"I'm very proud to do anything that can help veterans," he continued.

At 10 a.m., Mader went to the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, across from his home, to help lay wreaths over gravestones.
