Semi collides with minivan west of Rhinelander
RHINELANDER - A semi and a minivan both wound up off the road after they collided on Highway 8 west of Rhinelander Friday morning.

The crash happened near South Rifle Road around 7 a.m.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Department tells us the minivan had slowed down for a school bus. The driver of the semi told deputies he could not see well because of the morning sun.

The semi hit the back of the minivan, forcing both vehicles off the road.

Both drivers were taken to Saint Mary's hospital in Rhinelander. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Traffic in the area was tied up following the crash.

The fluorescent 'fire signs' outside many Northwoods homes help firefighters and other first responders find your home quickly when there's an emergency.

Newbold Fire Chief Mark Fetzer said it's important to keep them clear of snow.

"If we can't see them, neither can whoever is removing the snow from your driveway," said Fetzer. "They may plow it right over, then you won't have a sign there at all."
