MINNEAPOLIS - Authorities in Minneapolis have charged the father of a 10-year-old boy whose body was found in the Mississippi River with 2nd-degree murder.

The criminal complaint charging Pierre Barlee Collins cites cellphone location data that police said places him near the spot in the river where Barway Collins' body was found.

It also says Collins held two life insurance policies on his son and had asked his insurer about raising the coverage on one policy two days before the boy disappeared. The boy was missing nearly a month.

The complaint says Barway's body had duct tape around his feet and torso when it was found.

Collins has said he is innocent. A family spokesman, Pastor Harding Smith, said Tuesday that Collins maintains he had nothing to do with Barway's death.

The fluorescent 'fire signs' outside many Northwoods homes help firefighters and other first responders find your home quickly when there's an emergency.

Newbold Fire Chief Mark Fetzer said it's important to keep them clear of snow.

"If we can't see them, neither can whoever is removing the snow from your driveway," said Fetzer. "They may plow it right over, then you won't have a sign there at all."
