Rhinelander swimming finds motivation from conference win ahead of sectionals
RHINELANDER - Rhinelander swimming looks to make history this weekend at sectionals.

The Hodags are coming off the perfect GNC season with their first conference title since 2002.

Rhinelander has the fastest times in three different events headed into this weekend.

Senior Marisa McGuire says the team has followed one motto all season.

"Don't flake is a thing we like to say, basically don't give up, keep giving it your all and just do you best and keep doing it for the team," McGuire said.

Head coach Jenny Heck says the girls have focused on the basics this week.

The fast starts, the turns, and most importantly, rest.

She wants her team to embrace the best parts of competing in the post-season.

"I just want them to be excited, to be positive and to believe in themselves," Heck said. "They've done all the hard work, all of the hard work is over, have fun, enjoy it, enjoy the competition and enjoy their success."

The Hodags hope to add to their four straight years with at least one state qualifier.

Sectionals is this Saturday in Wisconsin Rapids at 1.
