Fire at Dolhun Field in Lake Tomahawk destroys storage hangar Submitted: 01/16/2018
Lake Tomahawk - A fire in Lake Tomahawk's Dolhun Field Monday night left a storage hangar destroyed. About eight different fire departments worked for hours to put out the flames.

Lake Tomahawk Fire Chief Doug Rehm says the department was called to the fire just before 8 p.m.
The building had been used for storage of RVs and boats. No one was inside at the time of the fire.

"When we arrived the place was fully involved. We had fire coming through the roof, along the whole length of the building," said Rehm.

Rehm says the building is a total loss. He added that while the cold temperatures don't affect the intensity of a fire, they can make the job more difficult.

"It affects our ability to deal with it because of freezing. The water wants to freeze, valves on the tankers and trucks will freeze up and then you can't open them or close them," said Rehm.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The fire Marshal will conduct an investigation.
