Raising Money for Honor Flight Veteran Submitted: 03/24/2013
Minocqua - Travel costs continue to skyrocket, even for people going on the honor flight. That's why a couple of young girls from Woodruff are asking for your help to raise money to send a veteran on the trip of a lifetime. Their goal is to raise one thousand five hundred dollars for a veteran and his wife. Alexis Fieck says the veteran didn't have enough money for both himself and his wife to go on the trip. "He's just a really nice guy and he's always been there for people and it's time for us to give back to him." bake sale organizer, Alexis Fieck. The girls already received a generous anonymous donation of four hundred dollars. "I didn't think we'd go this far," said bake sale participant, Lacey Wickline. "I thought it would be a typical bake sale where we get the money and give it to him, but I think it's really cool that we're doing this." The girls are keeping the veterans name a secret because they want to surprise him when they've raised enough money. If you would like to make a donation, you can contact the girls homeroom teacher at Arbor Vitae-Woodruff School, Joan Mestelle, at 715-356-3282 extension 313.
