-2 cups cranberries
-1/3 cup water
-1 japapeno pepper, seeded, membranes removed, and chopped
-1/2 cup onion, chopeed
-1/2 cup maple syrup
In a heavy saucepan, combine fresh cranberries, water, jalapeno, and onion. Cook over medium heat until cranberries "pop" and collapse a bit. This will take about 7 to 10 minutes. Stir often. Add 1/2 cup of maple syrup and cook an additional 4-5 minutes until thick. Stir very often. Using a blender, food processor, or immersion blender, blen sauce to desired texture.
This is a basic sauce. You can add to it pretty much whatever you like to make it your own. Ginger, mustard, teriyaki, or Tabasco could work.
It makes a great BBQ sauce or condiment for brats, burgers, sandwiches, pretzel dip or over cream cheese with crackers.
