WOODRUFF, Wis. (WJFW) - The Lakeland Fitness & Golf Club opened back in June 2020 during the beginning of the pandemic and shutdowns.

They said they wanted to get they wanted to get past the unfamiliarity of this new club in town and wanted to open their doors to the community. 

"Just wanted to give something back to the community that has really supported us and helped us manage opening a fitness center in the midst of COVID, surviving for 2 years," said John Weis, owner of the club. 

The club has a weight and aerobic excise room, racquetball courts, and a golf simulation center they were excited to share their unique facility with the Lakeland community. 

"We've heard from all of our golfers that its changed their emotional winter bloops, there's so many golfers, but there's so many of them that don't go south for the winter," said Weis. 

The event also raised about 15,000 dollars which was donated to the fire department. They say the club has 700 members currently, but that their numbers skyrocket in the winter.

They are expecting 1,200 members to enter this fall.
