Police investigating babysitter after 2-month-old boy dies in WausauSubmitted: 10/21/2018
WAUSAU - Police may recommend charges against a woman who babysat a two-month-old boy who died in Wausau last week.

Officers arrested Marissa M. Tietsort, 28, at The Plaza Hotel early Friday morning for a valid warrant on a separate case.

According to the Wausau Police Department, the boy's mother picked up the two-month-old from Tietsort's home on Thursday night and brought him to an area laundromat.  The mother noticed the baby was unresponsive when she tried to take him out of a car seat at the laundromat and called police.

The baby was pronounced dead at the scene. The initial investigation showed the baby likely died while he was still in Tietsort's care.

An autopsy conducted in Madison on Friday led police to further investigate the case as a homicide. Police have not sent charges related to this case to the Marathon County District Attorney's Office against Tietsort, but WPD says they are "expected... upon completion of the investigation and review of final autopsy results."

Tietsort faces a child abuse felony in Marathon County Court from a case filed on Oct. 11, 2018.
