Economic Outlook Roundtable - 2021-12-01
The Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce and the Wisconsin Department of Revenue will host a virtual economic outlook focused on both the Wausau region and the entire state of Wisconsin. Join us as Department of Revenue (DOR) Secretary Peter Barca and Chief Economist John Koskinen outline recent state business initiatives and present the latest information on the economic outlook for Wisconsin. This report will include regional data specific to Central Wisconsin, such as employment levels, personal income, wages and sale tax data. The meeting will conclude with a business and economic development roundtable discussion.

This is a complimentary member investor-only program. Participation is limited to the first 100 registrants. Meeting details will be included in the registration confirmation email immediately following registration.

The Marathon County Historical Society’s annual Holidays at the Houses returns on Saturday, December 4th from 11 am to 4:30 pm. The Woodson History Center and Yawkey House Museum will be decorated for Christmas, and visitors will also experience a celebration of other religious and cultural traditions.

Holiday displays and presentations from The Hmong American Center and Mt. Sinai Synagogue will be featured at the Woodson History Center, along with live entertainment, children’s activities and the popular Friends of Wausau Historic Landmarks annual Sweet Landmarks Gingerbread Contest.

Visitors are also encouraged to experience our current exhibits, Milking Time, Preserved for Generations, and Our Stories. Admission to the Woodson History Center is always free.

Guided tours of the Yawkey House Museum will feature short presentations highlighting several religious and/or cultural traditions from within our community as well as the history and architectural details of the exquisite house itself. The last tour leaves the Woodson History Center at 4 pm. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the Woodson History Center.

Rhinelander United Methodist Women Cookie Sale

The United Methodist Women (UMW) will be holding its Christmas Cookie Sale on Friday, December 10, 2021 at ArtStart, located in downtown Rhinelander (68 S. Stevens), from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. or until sold out. There will be a variety of homemade Christmas cookies and candy available.

This year, due to Covid protocols, the cookies will be prepackaged, with 6 cookies or pieces of candy to a sealed, Ziploc bag.

The price is $8.00/ pound.

This Christmas Cookie Sale is an important ministry and fund-raising event for our UMW as money from the cookie sale will support global and local community programs. The Personal Essentials Pantry, located at the First United Methodist Church, is offered twice a month and supplies personal hygiene items and cleaning products for people who cannot otherwise afford them. UMW also supports NATH, and programs supplying snow pants and boots for needy children.

Minocqua Dance presents ‘The Nutcracker UNfrozen’ a fun, family holiday performance of ballet and jazz.

The performance is based on the traditional Nutcracker story with a few magical twists. Enjoy watching sister’s Clara & Elise finally able to celebrate the holiday with family & friends, taken on a frozen adventure through a wintery snow waltz on pointe, into the unknown land of the sweets and a jazzy dance with Santa & his reindeer. ‘The Nutcracker UNfrozen’ will include ballet, pointe and jazz styles of dance along with tapping soldiers by Lynda Konzer’s dancers.

‘The Nutcracker UNfrozen’ will be performed in the Lakeland Union High School auditorium Saturday, December 11 at 1:00pm and 4:00pm.

Tickets are available at the door or in advance at minocquadance.blogspot.com.
