UPDATE: Autopsy indicates drug overdose at fault for two Wood. Co deaths Submitted: 01/13/2020

According to a media release Tuesday, preliminary autopsy results indicate both deaths were the result of drug overdoses. 

The incident is still under investigation.

UPDATE 1/13/20: This story has been updated to include the names of the deceased.

Wood Co. deputies say the bodies belonged to 26-year-old James D. Wypych and 23-year old Makela J. Lange. Wypych was identified as the homeowner. Neither Wypych nor Lange had been seen by family or friends since Christmas.

The Wood Co. Sheriff's Office is investigating the deaths of two individuals per a media release.


Shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday, deputies were dispatched to a home in the Town of Richfield. Upon arrival, police found a man and woman who were both dead. A cause of death has not yet been confirmed for either person. 

The incident is currently under investigation by the Wood Co. Sheriff's Office and members of the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory. The names of the individuals involved are currently being withheld.

Authorities say the public is not in any danger at this time.
