MANAWA - A Manawa man died when his house exploded Sunday morning.
The Waupaca county sheriff says the man was likely asleep when the explosion happened. He's been identified as 64-year-old Mark Steven Zielke.
Crews were working to clear debris after the home was destroyed.
Neighbors say they heard a loud explosion that sounded like a bomb. The blast was so strong some residents nearby had their windows shattered.
"It kind of freaked us both out," says one neighbor. "[We] started looking around and noticed there was some smoke coming up the road, so we took a drive up there and noticed that the house was completely leveled."
The cause of the explosion is still unknown.
