- One of the Northwoods most accomplished high school athletes will stay right here in Wisconsin during his college career.
Lakeland Union senior Kav FitzPatrick has committed to run cross country and track for the Wisconsin Badgers.
FitzPatrick is the current WIAA Division 2 cross country state champion.
As a junior he helped the T-Brids win the team cross country championship. He says he's excited to compete for the school he's always rooted for.
"We've always been Badger fans in my house, so I think it's really cool for me to be a part of that now and be a part of a team there that I am a Badger, I'll be competing for the University of Wisconsin," said FitzPatrick.
He also says he's happy he can now focus on his final season at Lakeland."I feel definitely less stressed so going into the spring I think it will be really helpful. I don't have to worry about if my time's will be good enough. I know I have a spot on a team," said FitzPatrick.
was also a member of Lakeland's
state champion 4x800 meter team last spring.
He's eligible to officially sign with Wisconsin in April.
