Woods and Water Paddle Race raises money for Multiple Sclerosis Society Submitted: 08/30/2015
ST. GERMAIN - More than 11,000 people suffer from Multiple Sclerosis in Wisconsin alone.

The owners of Lynn Ann's Campground in St. Germain want to do something about that. They started the Woods and Waters Paddle last year race to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

It's an out and back kayak and stand up paddle board race.

"It's really just to get people out on the water and supporting a great organization as well. The racers, there is a 5k loop and also a 1k, which is mostly kids racing this year. But we have them going out around the island and then down part of the St. Germain river and back," said race coordinator Anne Small.

About 15 people participated in this year's race.

All the money raised goes to the Wisconsin Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

"It's something that is kind of close to their hearts and so it's the charity that they use each time that they had an event. They also have a spook walk in the fall which generates a lot of money and donations. It's just important to them," said Small.

Small hopes the event will get bigger each year. They'll have updates on their Facebook page if you'd like to get involved in next year's race.
