Antigo girls raises $4,500 for humane society Submitted: 10/24/2013
ANTIGO - An Antigo third grader wants more people to take care of animals. That's why she helped raise more than $4,000 for the humane society there. Julianna Bauknecht is a member of the Caring Paws club at All Saints Catholic School. This isn't the first time the 8-year-old has raised big bucks for animals. "There was a rescue dog who fell off Rib Mountain and we raised over $3,500 for him. We just decided to keep it local this time and we decided to keep it at the humane society," says Bauknecht.

Deb Wojan is the the Langlade County Humane Society manager. She says this is one of the biggest donations the society has gotten. Now, it will be able to cover more costs for the animals there. "What's so awesome is the young girl that did it. She did more than a lot of the adults are willing to do. To put the time into it, and the effort and the passion,is just very exciting," says Wojan. Caring Paws invited nearby schools to help raise money. They hosted an old rummage sale and sold raffle tickets.
