Cold for everyone...lake snow for some!!!
Cold and lake effect snow continue to be the weather story for northcentral Wisconsin. As much as 6" of snow has already fallen with this latest event of lake snows in the snowbelts of Ashland, Iron, NW Vilas, Gogebic, and Ontonagon counties. Expect another 3-6" tonight with another 1-3" tomorrow and we could see some areas well over a foot of snow from this event. This right before the opening for gun-deer season! The cold weather is going to continue to grip the area too.
Look for lows tonight dipping into the upper part of the single digits, and highs tomorrow will only be in the upper teens to lower 20s! (average/normal is 35 degrees for the high!) Friday night again will be in the lower part of the single digits as the lake effect snow machine winds downs! Look for a very cold start to the deer hunt on Saturday morning, but we should be snow-free...and as winds turn out of the southwest, we will have highs in the lower part of the 30s! Sunday, a weak clipper will help draw up even milder air up from the south, so we could make a run at the mid 30s with a chance for a few flurries or light snow.
Monday, we again will be on the back side of the clipper system moving through Saturday afternoon, so that means that a cool down again with scattered snow showers is likely! Tuesday will be snow-free with highs in the lower 30s!
Have a great night! Chief Meteorologist Luke Sampe
