- Great Northern's Lakeland Thunderbirds look to turn their 2-7 season from last year around in 2014.
They will have Nick Peterson returning at quarterback, which head coach Mike Mestelle says adds another element to their offense.

"What Nick can do at 6'2'', said Mike Mestelle, the head coach at Lakeland. "What he can do is look the field over, so we'll have a middle of the field passing game and we haven't really had a middle of the field passing game for a couple years"
Nick Peterson feels confident commanding the offense this season.
"It feels good to be back as a senior with a year under my belt," said Peterson. "I feel a lot more comfortable, a lot more than last year. I was just kind of throwing into the mix."
