Hodags keep magical run alive in girls soccer regionalsSubmitted: 06/09/2014
Story By Joe Dufek

RHINELANDER - In girls soccer, Rhinelander had to fight, scrap, and claw their way to win their regional final last weekend.

Hodags had a scoreless battle against Pulaski on Saturday.

In the shootout, Molly Willging gave Rhinelander the lead on the sixth penalty kick.

It all came down to goal keeper Morgan Voigt. Voight makes the save. Rhinelander is looking for their first trip to state this week.

"It would be awesome if we just keep being successful," Voigt said. "Maybe not as tight of games as tonight was - but you never know with the hardeer competition coming in. It would be awesome to go with this group of girls."

This is the second straight year, the Hodags won their regional.

Rhinelander hosts Marshfield Thursday in the D2 sectional semifinals. The winner plays in the sectional final at Wausau East on Saturday.
