VILAS COUNTY - Warm weather means crews can start repairing and maintaining the roads. Construction began on Highway 51 in Vilas County Monday.

Crews will be repaving a 15 mile stretch of road between highway M and highway H in Manitowish Waters. They will also be doing maintenance work on the Spider Lake Bridge.

"It will be a safer roadway for everyone who travels through the community," says Anna Wisner, WISDOT Project Development Supervisor. "The bridge will get some much needed maintenance work."

"The project will start with work on the bridge temporary traffic signals are going in today so traffic will be impacted with single lane closures," says Wisner.

This is a 2.5 million dollar project. The construction is supposed to be done by mid-July.
