LAC DU FLAMBEAU - Drug addicts can look nearly everywhere to get their fix, and sometimes they can get that by raiding their family's medicine cabinet.

That's why Lac du Flambeau police gave a drug presentation at an event for the elderly Thursday.

Police leaders wanted to show seniors what could happen if they didn't keep track of their medications.

"A lot of times the elderly and older population can be victims from this. As the younger children, grandchildren, things like that are you know coming in and taking their grandparents prescription drugs," says Sarah Keuer, a nurse at Peter Christensen Health Center.

The presentation was at the event Not Ready for the Rocking Chair.

They had speakers talking about cancer, alzheimers and hospice care.

"To provide resources for elderly individuals, their caregivers and other people in the area to just provide them with other resources and things they may or may not know about," says Keuer.

The Peter Christensen Health Center put on the event.

They hope to do it again next year.

EAGLE RIVER - Hockey teams from all over the country descended upon Eagle River today.

This morning kicked off the annual Labatt Blue/USA Hockey, Pond Hockey Championships on Dollar Lake.

This is the 11th year Eagle River hosted the event.

"I think today is going great. We couldn't have asked for a better day. Weather wise it's sunny but it's still cold. The ice is holding up. Games are rolling. It looks like they are having a great time," says Tournament Director Katie Holmgren.

Nearly 2000 players will take to the ice on the lake this weekend.

There is no parking allowed on the lake this year and area streets have been turned one way to support the extra parking needed.

Last year's ice conditions forced the championships to relocate to the Eagle River Derby Track. Not so much this year.

"We are really really excited to be back on the lake. It was great that we could host the event. We didn't have to cancel last year, but, it is really nice to be back on the pond, says Holmgren.

Preparations for this year's event started just about this time last year.

The Championships run through Sunday.
