Laona's Krawze wins state free throw titleSubmitted: 04/07/2014

LAONA - A young Northwoods basketball star earned a state championship. And she is just 10-years old.

On Saturday, Elizabeth Krawze of Laona won the state-championship at the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest in Wisconsin Rapids. She won the 10-year old girls crown.

She qualified for state after competing in Laona, Crandon, and De Pere earlier this year.

She made 21 out of 30 - free throws - including a perfect 5-for-5 in an extra shootout round.

She is on cloud nine after winning the trophy.

"It was interesting," Elizabeth explains. "When I heard I won, I ran to my mom and started crying. I was nervous - my legs were shaking. But it's all fun and games. I like competing and playing with other people by just concentrating and not worrying about how many shots I made. It's about having fun."
