Antigo ready for eleventh straight trip to state gymnasticsSubmitted: 03/05/2014
Story By Joe Dufek

ANTIGO - This weekend the Antigo Red Robins will be competing at the state gymnastics meet.

It's the 11th straight year, Antigo has qualified for meet as a team.

During that time, Antigo won the D2 state championship in 2008.

Head coach Julie Langseth is in her 23rd year with Antigo.

The Red Robins are strong on the floor and balance beam. After a weak start, their work on the uneven bars has improved all season.

Antigo is pumped to be heading back to Wisconsin Rapids for state.

"It's an accomplishment - it says a lot about our program," Antigo head coach Julie Langseth explains. "Certainly we have a tradition. We know what it takes as far as consistency. The girls do a lot of work which is helpful."

Northwoods LEAN hosted a Wellness Seminar Tuesday to teach employees how to start or add to wellness programs at their business. Organizers say people here in the Northwoods need wellness programs to promote healthier lifestyles.

"Healthcare costs are rising," said Northwoods LEAN Worksite Wellness Committee member Dr. Wendy Henrichs. "People are getting sicker within the United States and that's translating into lost dollars in terms of productivity. So we want to give employers in the area resources to be able to incorporate wellness into their businesses."
