WAUSAU - Most people dream of getting the chance to compete against the world's best athletes.

But some students at South Mountain elementary school in Wausau got the rare chance to take on a three time Olympian.

Olympian Debbi Sullivan taught students the tricks and techniques of racewalking.

It isn't as well known as other Olympic sports.

She enjoys teaching racewalking to younger kids.

"I was working with the elementary school level kids because when I wanted to be an Olympian, it was about that age group," said Debbi Sullivan, a three-time Olympian.

Sullivan also inspires kids to not give up on their dreams.

Growing up, she wanted to be an Olympic runner.

That didn't happen because she was injured.

She didn't let the injury ruin her Olympic dream.

"I became an Olympic walker, not a runner but once it set in, you actually can achieve it so much better when you believe it and it's in there with passion," said Sullivan.

Sullivan holds four current american records and one world record.

She set those records in the early 90s.

She competed in the 1992, 1996, and 2000 Summer Olympics.

NORTHWOODS - A dog in Wausau died Tuesday after being locked in a car for two hours. Police say the dog had a heat stroke.

Veterinarians say dogs can overheat even if the windows are rolled down. That's because dogs are naturally warmer than humans and different breeds have hair or fur that might make the dog even hotter.
