WAUSAU - There is just a few weeks left in both boys and girls basketball. Regionals are just around the corner.

For the seniors, it's also getting near the end of their high school careers.

In our Game of the Week, Merrill was at Wausau East. Merrill's Renee Sladek was just 9 points away from 1,000 for her career. She'll play college hoops for Division One Northern Illinois.

East was still looking for their first conference win.

Olivia Zipperer's 3-pointer gave East a brief one point lead early in the game.

But from there, Merrill went on a 19-3 run to end the quarter. Anna Finnell scored a basket during the run.

Then late in the quarter, the moment Bluejay fans were waiting for. Reegan Byer passed it to Sladek who scored her 1,000th point.

She got a standing ovation. Sladek is the seventh person in school history to reach 1,000 points. But just the second girl to reach it.

Renee finished with 20 points. Now at 1,011 and counting. Bluejays roll 52-28.
