Hodag manager wins Player of the Week honorsSubmitted: 02/14/2014
Story By Joe Dufek

- More than 2,200 votes in this week's poll. Let's find out who is our Newswatch 12 Player of the Week.

Rhinelander manager - turned basketball player David Pokrandt played his very first varsity game last week.

Dave played the final minute against Tomahawk and hit the three pointer. A great moment for the young man batteling cognitive disability and A-D-H-D.

He received 41% of the vote. He'll receive a plaque from R & D Trophies of Tomahawk.

Matt Wolter of Antigo boys hockey, Lakeland nordic skier Erin Bolger, and Shane Wakefield of the Chequamegon boys basketball team were the other nominees. In fact, Wakefield dropped out of the running because he wanted Pokrandt to win. A class act.

If you would like to nominate someone for next week's award, we have a form on our website at wjfw.com. Please include stats for a game this week.

Next week's nominees will be announced on Monday.
