Antigo boys hockey avenges loss to Northland PinesSubmitted: 02/04/2014

EAGLE RIVER - Two of the state's best boys hockey teams met in Eagle River last night. #6
Antigo and #9 Northland Pines.

The teams had 3 losses combined. Antigo lost only once going in. But that was
to Pines in Antigo back in December.

The rematch at the dome.

Before the game Eagle River's 1989 state-champion team was recognized. It was
the 25th anniversary of the championship.



As for the game, Eagles jumped on the board early.

In the opening minute of the first period, Colton Raymond slammed a loose puck
home for Northland Pines. It gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Antigo answered on the power play, as Matt Wolter found an opening and scored to
tie the game.

In the second period, the Red Robins started flying. First Alex Nagel's
backhand somehow goes in to give Antigo a 2-1 lead.

Then Pines tried to clear the zone, but Jackson Charlesworth kept it in. He
shot from the point and scored to make it 3-1 Antigo. He scored twice in the
period.

Later, Antigo was back on the power play. Joe Kubacki found Wolter wide open
who scored his second goal of the game. It gave Antigo a 4-1 lead.

Antigo won 5-2. The Red Robins have won eight straight games. Click on the

The caller said a white male wearing black clothes entered a home along County Highway P. The man was described as tall and muscular.

RHINELANDER - A Northwoods Memorial Day service attracts hundreds of people, rain or shine.  But getting there isn't always easy for some.

This year, service organizers will offer free coach bus rides to the Union Grove Cemetery in Harshaw for its May 27 ceremony.  Rick Smith started the ceremony after going to his father's grave site on Memorial Day in 1997 and seeing no one else out there.

Ceremony treasurer Craig Lau says the service has grown from an informal gathering to a day with cannons, fly-overs, and music.
