SUGAR CAMP - Thousands of bales of hay will smolder through the night at a Sugar Camp barn.
The barn burst into flames early this morning around 8:30 a.m. Several fire departments sent crews to fight the fire, including Sugar Camp, Eagle River, Pine Lakes, Three Lakes, Pelican and St. Germain.
Brent Lorbetske owns the barn that has been in his family since 1910. He says it was just another morning until his daughter called him about the fire.
"I thought someone was dreaming or making up something," says Lorbetske. "I went to the window and sure enough it's this end of the barn. The east end of the barn I could see was in flames."
Fire Chief Jason Goeldner of Sugar Camp Fire Department says no one was injured, and there were no animals inside the barn. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
RHINELANDER - Usually when we think of people fighting world hunger, collecting food donations and other community service events come to mind. But a group of kids from Rhinelander are fighting world hunger a different way.
On Sunday, 14 people, including kids in grades five through 12 and some of their parents, set out on a weeklong 250 mile bike ride to raise money. They're all part of Rhinelander's Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Pastor Tammy Barthels says this is a great way for kids to learn about world hunger.
