End of the year car sales Submitted: 12/27/2013

RHINELANDER - You probably already unwrapped your presents, but now is a great time to buy a new car. Sales at the Honda in Rhinelander are higher compared to this time last year. One of the reasons for the increased sales can be attributed to increased advertising.

"End of the year is a great time; it's not just the dealers that need to move as many as they can but the banks as well," says Dave Rushman, Rhinelander Honda Sales Manager. "The bank rates right now are phenomenal I mean you can get 1.9% on used vehicles even, so it is really a great time to buy at the end of the year."

Anytime you're buying a car you want to make sure it's reliable.

"Whether you're buying new or used you want to make sure you're buying from a reputable dealer that goes through the whole 120 point inspection and things like that," says Rushman. "Make sure you know there all machines that can break down but if you're purchasing a used car especially you want to make sure that you're buying from a reputable dealer that is going to take care of that vehicle not only before you buy it but after the sale as well."

Many car dealerships including Honda will offer year-end sales up until January 6th 2014.

The theme of this year's parade was "Rhinelander: Home for the Holidays." 

Families enjoyed watching the parade of floats and taking pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

California Gov. Jerry Brown has issued a statement of condolences after a deadly fire in Oakland, Calif. left at least nine people dead.

Brown says in a statement that he and his wife, Anne, were saddened to hear about the deadly blaze.
