Hodags have new gymnastics coachSubmitted: 11/14/2013
Story By Joe Dufek

RHINELANDER - It took a few days, but Rhinelander High School appears to have a coach for their gymnastics team.

His name is George Allen. He has been involved with Rhinelander gymnastics on the middle school level for three years.

The hire still needs to be officially approved by the school board. That could happen on Monday.

If Allen is approved, it saves the season for the Hodags. The girls were able to practice for the first time yesterday.

They're glad to just get ready for the season.

"(We're) not only late going into the season, but we didn't have any open gyms," senior Sara Krueger explains. "Now it's this big process of getting our routines and getting up to speed."

Allen wanted to avoid the Hodags not having a season at all. That includes his daughter Stephanie.

"With them not having a gymnastics team, plus my daughter is on the team," Allen says. "I did feel it was important not only for my daughter, but for the other kids also."

Kersti Lamers and April Denis were also hired as assistants. The school board also needs to approves their hires as well.
