- John Hiesman's name is well known throughout the nation. So anyone mentioned with Hiesman is earning some special recognition.

A pair of cross country stars from the area made the list of 20 finalists from Wisconsin for the High School Heisman award.

Jordan Koski from Chequamegon High School finished third at last week's sectionals. He's the one wearing the headband on the left. Jordan also plays hockey and track.

But it's not just about sports. Jordan has a 3.85 grade point average. He is also involved in the community through the National Honor Society and his local church.

Jessi Krause of Edgar is another standout cross country and track athlete. Jessi is the lone represenative from Edgar at this weekend's state meet in Wisconsin Rapids.

She is also a grade A student.

48,000 seniors applied for the award throughout the nation.

Next week, one male and one female will be named state winners. The national winner will be announced in December.

National finalists and the overall winner will earn money for their respective high schools.
