Escaped Prisoner in Police CustodySubmitted: 10/30/2013
Story By Hayley Tenpas

LAC DU FLAMBEAU - Police have taken an escaped prisoner into custody.

The Vilas County Sheriff's Department says yesterday 18 year old Jeffery J. Bauman Jr. walked away from St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

He had been in the Vilas County jail, but was taken to the hospital Friday after claiming he was suffering paralysis in his legs.

Around 12:40 Wednesday morning, Lac du Flambeau Tribal Police located Bauman in Lac du Flambeau.

That's when Bauman fled by car.

He then crashed the vehicle and fled on foot.

He was taken into custody by police just after 3 this morning.

He now faces charges for escape, fleeing an officer, recklessly endangering safety.

The Vilas County Sheriff's Office and Lac du Flambeau Tribal Police were helped by Woodruff Police, Minocqua Police and the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.
