Dispose of prescription drugs safely this weekendSubmitted: 10/23/2013

NORTHWOODS - You can keep your home safe, and help the environment in an easy way this Saturday.

Locations across the Northwoods will join in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

Unwanted and unused prescription drugs can be harmful to waterways if flushed down the toilet or put in a landfill.

Getting rid of prescription drugs properly also helps make sure they don't end up in the wrong hands.

At the last Take-Back Day, people in Wisconsin got rid of 45,000 pounds of drugs.

Police departments in Rhinelander, Three Lakes, Antigo, Lac du Flambeau, and Merrill will collect the drugs from 10am to 2pm.

EAGLE RIVER - After a two-year hiatus the Eagle River Ice Castle returned back. Many people gathered to watch Sunday while firefighters added some finishing touches. 

Workers placed decorative ice sculptures on the top corners of each castle tower. Firefighters also started to string lights around the castle.

Now more even changes could be in store as Walker and his fellow Republicans continue to push the agency further toward what the governor has called a customer service foundation.

That scary thought was a reality for Ken Wolfe, who grew up in Rhinelander.

On Friday, at around 3:15p.m., Wolfe went to Pelican Lake to meet his son and go ice fishing, but he never made it.

WAUSAU - The South Area Fire and Emergency Response District responded to a fire at a Rib Mountain Sam's Club Saturday.

Firefighters got the call around 2:30 p.m.

According to Captain Doug Jennings, the fire was on the roof of the store. Jennings says a heating unit caught fire.

Everyone was evacuated and no one was hurt.
